Last updated: October 2025

1. Introduction

1.1 These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) outline the agreement between you (“the Student”) and Take Direction (“the Tutor”), who provides private tuition services online and/or in person.
1.2 By booking and/or attending a lesson, you agree to be bound by these Terms. Please read them carefully before booking.
1.3 These Terms may be updated from time to time. The most recent version will always be available on the Tutor’s website or upon request.

2. Tutor Responsibilities

2.1 The Tutor agrees to:

  • Provide professional, high-quality tuition in accordance with the subject(s) and level(s) agreed.

  • Be punctual, prepared, and communicative regarding lesson arrangements.

  • Keep all Student information strictly confidential.

  • Provide online lessons via a secure, reliable video platform.

  • Hold a current Enhanced DBS Check and maintain appropriate safeguarding standards.

2.2 The Tutor is self-employed and is not responsible for technical issues beyond their control (e.g., poor internet connection, platform outages).

3. Student Responsibilities

3.1 Students (or their parent/guardian if under 18) must provide accurate contact and payment information.
3.2 Students under 18 must have permission from a parent or legal guardian, who must be contactable and, where appropriate, present during lessons.
3.3 Students must ensure they have the necessary equipment, software, and internet connection for online learning.
3.4 Students agree to behave respectfully and engage appropriately during lessons.
3.5 Lessons may not be recorded, shared, or distributed without the Tutor’s prior written consent.

4. Bookings and Payments

4.1 All lessons must be paid for in full upfront before any tuition takes place.
4.2 Payment secures the lesson time and confirms the booking. Lessons are not confirmed until payment has been received.
4.3 Payment details will be provided directly by the Tutor.
4.4 Lessons are booked on a first-come, first-served basis. Regular lesson slots can be reserved with advance payment.
4.5 Late or missed payments may result in lessons being paused or cancelled.

5. Cancellations and Refunds

5.1 Students may cancel or reschedule a lesson with at least 48 hours’ notice.
5.2 Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged the full lesson fee.
5.3 If the Tutor cancels a lesson, the Student will be offered a rescheduled time or a full refund.
5.4 Refunds are not issued for missed or forgotten sessions.
5.5 Block bookings are non-refundable once lessons have begun, but lessons may be rescheduled with sufficient notice.

6. Lateness and Attendance

6.1 If a Student is late, the lesson will still finish at the scheduled time.
6.2 If a Student fails to attend or join within 15 minutes of the start time, the session will be considered missed and charged in full.
6.3 If the Tutor is late, the lost time will either be added to the end of the lesson or credited toward a future session.

7. Safeguarding

7.1 The Tutor holds a valid Enhanced DBS Check and is committed to maintaining a safe learning environment for all Students.
7.2 Parents/guardians are encouraged to be nearby during online lessons with under-18s if appropriate.
7.3 Any safeguarding concerns should be reported directly to the Tutor as soon as possible.

8. Liability

8.1 The Tutor accepts no responsibility for any loss, damage, or injury sustained during or as a result of lessons, except where caused by proven negligence.
8.2 The Tutor is not liable for any third-party resources, links, or platforms used during lessons.

9. Complaints

9.1 Any concerns or complaints should be raised directly with the Tutor within 48 hours of the lesson.
9.2 The Tutor will address and resolve the issue promptly and fairly.

10. Data Protection and Privacy
